Tom leads every Averione engagement from first conversation to delivered outcome. His UK military career began with work in investigation, intelligence, evidence handling, and biometric collection, including operational tours in high-threat environments. He went on to serve in the Royal Marines and specialised as a Heavy Weapons Anti-Tank specialist. He then moved into close protection and site security at the highest levels of commercial demand: global-travelling principals, ultra-high-net-worth families, and major energy facilities in West Africa, where he directed daily security operations for processing infrastructure capable of handling hundreds of thousands of barrels per day.

He has managed guard forces, run maritime force protection, flown surveillance operations as a qualified UAS pilot, holds a Ship Security Officer qualification and a diploma in leadership and management, and is studying for an MSc in security and risk management. His approach is Averione’s: gather the facts, design the response, deliver.

David has spent more than twenty-five years making complex systems work in places where failure isn’t theoretical. For over a decade he served as a Royal Air Force ground electronics engineer, working on radar, communications and command-and-control systems across five bases and fifteen global deployments, before a career designing and delivering technical security across the Pacific, Southeast Asia and Africa.

He founded and built two security-technology companies in frontier markets: one grown from a single employee to 150 people and the number-one intrusion-and-monitoring provider in its country; the other first-to-market with vehicle tracking and satellite communications infrastructure in one of Asia’s hardest operating environments. For most of the past decade he has led technical security for multinational energy operations, designing and deploying networked surveillance and access across a large multi-site estate, building hardened operations centres, and delivering major savings through practical design and direct vendor management. His recent work includes leading offshore security-technology transformations of the kind that anchor Averione’s approach.

David is the architect of Averione’s core thesis: that the world’s best security technology already exists, and what’s missing is the discipline to fuse it into one picture.
